Environmental Health

The Environmental Health program administers Colorado regulations to protect environmental quality, public health, safety, and welfare; and administers to environmental standards contained in the County Land Use Code.

The Environmental Health Specialist ensures public health standards are maintained in the retail food industry, childcare centers, and schools; and partners with the Colorado Air Pollution Control Division in ongoing air particulate measurements and air quality research in Telluride.

Radon monitoring equipment is available for measuring of radon gas levels in homes, businesses, schools and childcare facilities. 

The Environmental Health Department administers Solid Waste Disposal District programs such as the Norwood Solid Waste Transfer Station, electronics recycling, household hazardous waste disposal event and Christmas tree chipping.
