Attorney's Office
The San Miguel County Attorney's Office provides legal counsel and representation to the Board of County Commissioners as well as to other County officials, boards and departments. The Department Head reports directly to the Board of County Commissioners.
The County Attorney's Office, which serves as general legal counsel for the various County officials and departments, does not provide legal advice or representation to private citizens. Prosecution of persons charged with violations of Colorado criminal statures, including traffic offenses, within San Miguel County, is the responsibility of the District Attorney's Office for the Seventh Judicial District. The County Attorney's Office does not prosecute or defend persons charged with Colorado Criminal Code or Colorado Traffic Code offenses.
