Juvenile Diversion

The San Miguel Juvenile Diversion Program offers first and appropriate second time youth offenders a community alternative to a formal court filing or possible criminal record. Youth who have committed petty crimes such as shoplifting, assault, possession / consumption of alcohol or drugs, trespassing, disorderly conduct, theft, criminal mischief and harassment are given the opportunity to complete a six month to one year contract. Once a contract has been successfully completed a youth does not have to acknowledge their criminal offense on job, college or military applications.

The San Miguel Juvenile Diversion accomplishes this mission by working in partnership with youth, their families and a variety of local, county, municipal, public and private organizations to bring youth a positive learning experience and prevent further criminal behavior. As well as serving referred youth, Juvenile Diversion is committed to preventing criminal behavior in the youth at large. Through our prevention events the Juvenile Diversion program comes in contact with over 300 students a year. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
