Oil & Gas Team PurposeThe Board of County Commissioners have appointed an Oil and Gas Team, made up of County staff, to work on a wide range of issues related to leasing, development, operation, and reclamation of oil and gase well sites in the County.
The team will track the quarterly BLM lease sales (making the maps available to the public), comment on potential leasing in areas of environmental concern, and maintain communication with federal agencies and industry representatives. It has worked on developing a more comprehensive set of land use regulations intended to minimize potential adverse impacts and potential land use conflicts associated with oil and gas development if it moves into the more developed areas of the County, as directed by the Board of County Commissioners.
